Why Barcelona?

My sister was studying there as part of her University degree so I decided to pay her a visit and tick off a city that had always been on my travel bucket list to travel to and explore. We'd been to Spain many times as a family to the likes of Tenerife, Malloyca, and Malaga and Spain generally has amazing warm weather due to it being in the Mediterranian.

My personal highlights included The Nou Camp Stadium tour, because how could I not want to go on a stadium tour of one of the biggest football clubs in world football The Sagrada Fammillia, Park Guell, Citudella Park & Mont Juic.

Thursday

I arrived into Barcelona around 11am Spanish time and headed towards the metro to head to my hotel. The hotel I stayed at was called Senator Barcelona Spa Hotel and was only a 15 minute walk to the Camp Nou which was top of my Barcelona bucket list.

After the Nou Camp tour, I headed to the metro to meet Sophie in central Barcelona for some food after she finished her University classes. I got the Metro to Catalunya and had a walk around the place de Catlunya whilst I waited for her.

We went for food at a local Tapas restaurant in La Rambla and had a walk around La Rambla and the Goth Centre so I could see some of Barcelona at night but I had to call it an early night as I hadn't slept much and I wanted to see and do a lot of things the next day so I made my way back to my hotel in Les Courts and had an early night

Friday

After a good nights sleep, I was up early and headed to the Gothic quarter, the Barcelona Cathedral which was round the corner from where Sophie was staying. We started making our way to the Sagrada Famillia, on the way we saw the Casa Battlo and Casa Mila which are buildings that were developed by the architect Gaudi. I don't think there's anything like them built anywhere else in the world. Park Guell was probably one of the biggest parks I had seen and it has a breath taking view of Barcelona, I can only imagine the flocks of people that will congregate there for golden hour to take pictures. We then made our way to Placa Espanya because I really wanted to see the Monumental fountain but of course, trust my luck it was under re-construction and not operating.

Weekend

Over the course of the weekend we walked around Park Citudella, what was funny here is that a lot of people in Barcelona come here for workout and yoga classes as there were people exercising working out everywhere.

We also had a walk around the harbour and surrounding beaches before making our way to the cable carts to take us up to Mont Juic Castle. I don't think you could make for more perfect photographs in the Cable cars or at the top of the castle.
