As an early birthday treat, I decided to go to Copenhagen, a city I have always wanted to visit and experience since I was a teenager.

I flew out from Manchester Airport as the flight was only £25 and headed to Copenhagen, caught the train to central Copenhagen and tried to find my hostel, The Steel House Hostel. I have to admit the hostel itself is great for backpackers and people who want to make new friends whilst travelling. I met two lovely italians just from watching the football on one of the rainy days.

Day 1

Things I would say are must see and do things in Copenhagen is going for a walk to see the mermaid statue although I wouldn't say it's anything special but it's one of the main tourist attractions, take a walk down Nyhavn, go and visit the Copenhagen Botanical Garden, Rosenborg Castle.

I would say Tivoli Gardens are a must thing to go and experience, it's one of the oldest theme parks in Europe and the whole attaction is what inspired the creator of the Walt Disney Theme parks around the globe. I tried out some of the rides, including one of the worlds oldest rollercoasters and enjoyed some Danish Hip Hop event that was carried out at the park. At night, the whole place lights up with lights and it looks amazing.

Day 2

The next day, I went on the Carlsberg tour to try some local beer and had a wander around the site, I then found a museum of the Guiness Book of Records which is an interactive museum. I spent the rest of the afternoon in the hostel lounge watching the football and met some lovely italian lads so we then decided on the evening we'd go for a night out.

Day 3

We decided that we would go on one of the Hostel provided free city tours, this took us around the palace and some of the Copenhagen famous streets and down to the harbour so we could see some more of the city and udnerstand the history of this small, unique city.

In the evening we went out for dinner and tried a traditional Danish 6 course meal with Red wine.

Day 4

Myself and Luca decided we would be adveturous and headed to a place called Freetown Christania, where residents squat on a former military area. However just a stone’s throw away from Christiania, you’ll find some of the most fashionable waterfront apartment buildings in Copenhagen as well as the splendid Royal Opera House.

We then had some lunch by the waterfront and then headed back to the hostel to chill for the afternoon / evening before I headed to the airport for my flight to Berlin.
