For my 25th Birthday, me and Jodie decided we would go to Prague. Our experience was a brisky, unique one to say the least.
I'm really glad we paid for a Jet 2 Package holiday because otherwise we would have been in a real unhappy mess.
We checked into our hotel in Prague and to me it felt very outdated and old. Not exactly a problem on its own, but it wasn't exactly the most eye appealing place I've stayed in. We went out for dinner to a local restaurant just down the road from the hotel, having some pizzas and a bottle of wine. We headed back to the room for my works Christmas quiz but we had a bit of a weird experiece with the night porter at reception. He clearly didn't speak very well English and seemed very threatening and not very empathetic when we told him that the room was way too warm for us. We tried to explain to him that it's too hot to stay in and we weren'tn comfortable, and I'm not even joking when I say that the room was stifling. You couldn't even open the window to let any fresh air in and the window in the bathroom didn't open enough to let any cool air in. To add, the radiator was on max making it totally unbearable to relax in.
Jodie had to ring Jet 2 to explain the situation to us because we didn't feel safe, they were swift with getting back to us and we got upgraded to a lovely 4 star hotel for a little bit more money but we felt safer, the hotel was way more modern and pleasing.
Prague is a very beatiful and picturesque city, especially in the winter with all the Christmas markets, although on the coldest day we were there, it was -5 degrees and when there was a breeze it felt even colder.
During our days there we just spent the time mooching round taking in the general feel of the city, we went to the main old square, saw the Astronomical clock tower, took a walk to St Vitrus Cathedral, we found a sex museum which was interesting to say the least, the weirdest part of that was they had a dark room that was playing an old porn video from the 50's in black and white and loads of people were watching it.
We had a walk over St Charles Bridge to the other side of the river taking in the views of the Vltava river and on the other side it felt very Medieval with market stalls and we found an interactive haunted house of amusemants.
Jodie mentioned she wanted to go on a day tour to the concentration camps. We booked ourselves onto the afternoon tour to Terezin Concentration camp and around the barracks learning how they were used by the Nazis during WWII.
For my birthday we booked ourselves onto a river cruise where we jumped onto a boat for dinner and drinks with live music as we travelled up and down the river.
