Sunday 19th August

The worst part of the day was that I had to get up early from the Best Western Hotel in order to make it for my Jet Blue flight to Boston MA. The flight only took me about an hour, and before I knew it, I had already landed. Making my way to my Airbnb in Malden was a bit of nightmare as I had to walk for about 20 minutes in order to get out of the airport and to the taxi pickup point where I could request for an Uber to pick me up and drop me off at the house I was staying for the night.

The house itself was nice enough, hosted by a lovely lady called Polyana, the house was clean and tidy, and she provided a kettle, tea, coffee and biscuit supplements along with fresh towels and bathroom supplements which were kept for the remainder of my travels because how can you say no to free gifts right?

Festival In The Park

Once I felt settled, I made my way to Malden station wich was about a 20 minute walk away from where I was staying. The first place on my Boston agenda was to go and find Beacon Hill as it is known to be one of Boston’s most picturesque areas.

However, whilst on the metro to downtown station, it turns out that I had in fact missed my stop and got off two stations further down the line which brought me out at Boston Public Gardens Park.

The cool thing about this park is that there appeared to be some form of local music festival happening as I could hear country rock music playing in the distance.

I followed my ears and there it was! The park was beautiful with the water fountain in the middle of the green area, and it felt like a complete family occasion as there were children jumping around in the water, people were drinking and dancing and the whole area is surrounded by the famous Boston monuments along with the hundreds of people gathered singing and dancing to the bands playing.

Beacon Hill

The next stop was beacon Hill, the part of Boston which I was originally supposed to go to.

Freedom Trail

The great thing about Boston, is that everything is within a couple of miles proximity so I could see everything that I wanted to see within the space of about 4 hours. That was up until is started raining of course.

The Freedom Trail consists of 16 Points of Interest which takes you on a tour of the Boston City Center.

You start off at what is known as the Boston Common (where

I found the local festival taking place) which is a 44 acre park, Massachusetts State House, Park Street Church, Granary Burying Ground, Kings Chapel & Kings Chapel Burying Ground, Benjamin Franklin Statue, Old Corner Book store (This book store is downtown Boston's oldest commercial building), Old South Meeting House, Old State House, Boston Massacre Site, Faneuil Hall, Paul Revere House, Old North Church, Copps Hill Burying Ground, USS Constitution which is an old ship and the Bunker Hill Monument.

After all of that walking and site seeing in the rain, I headed back to the Faneuil Hall Marketplace to grab some food. I can claim that the entire place was heaving from top to bottom with people and they had a whole array of different cultural foods from indian, Turkish, Mexican, Chicken, Chips, Candy stores, the list could go on.

It came to around 8pm and I figured that I had done enough site seeing and taken in as much of the place as I could bare for the day, it had also started to get dark so I decided to head back to the house and have a somewhat early night.
