Grand Canyon

Today the day started at 5:30am as I had to make my way to the hotels coach stop to get my first coach to the meeting point where we will meet our coach driver for the day to take us up to Arizona to see the hoover dam, route 66 and Grand Canyon.

We drove up to the meeting point, got onto the coach, took my seat as well as my small breakfast, some form of pan au chocolate and some OJ. I was excited for the sites I was about to see and the long adventure ahead.

We arrived at the hoover dam about 9am which you can see from the photos it was an incredibly huge hold in the ground and the road around it appeared to go on for miles.

We then headed to the Route 66 zone. It was as you would expect. A massive sign that said Route 66, and just on that stretch of road there was a small famous tourist shop where people were able to buy souvenirs and gifts to remember their travels past this historic American landmark. I got myself a picture next to the wall and looked around the area for 30 minutes before we finally headed to the Grand Canyon.

What an incredible view it was too. You could see right down to the bottom of the canyon and it literally does go on for miles. You can only walk so far within the short amount of time available before you had to head back otherwise you would miss the coach to head back to Vegas otherwise you have to find your own way back and it was advised that this wasn’t a cheap option. I decided I would go for a walk around the viewpoints to see if I could get any cool photos and I did. It was incredibly hot though in Arizona and you could see the heatwaves bouncing off the rocks. I even got myself an ice cream to cool myself down. There was even a spot of entertainment as some old tribe people were playing instruments, dancing and spinning many, many hula hoops around his body.

I headed back to the coach for the long drive back to Vegas and I can gladly say that I slept like a baby on that coach back and I had fallen victim to the blazing heat. As soon as the coach arrived back, I headed straight back to my hotel room to bed and ended the night watching TV and falling asleep.
