Champions League Weekend in Dublin

Liverpool Vs Tottenham in the Champions League Final on 2nd June. Initially me and Jodie wanted to go to Madrid and be with all of the other Liverpool supporters but when looking at the flights and hotels to Madrid, it was already going to cost well over £1000 so we thought, the next best thing would be to go to dublin for 4 nights which would be a little cheaper and it turned out to be just as fun.

Ireland is full of Liverpool fans and the long weekend proved to be just as fun.

We got a flight from Manchester Airport and checked into our serperate rooms in the hostel not too far from the centre of Dublin. We went to a little local pizzeria for some freshly made pizza and a bottle of wine and headed to The Temple Bar and the surrounding bars to soak up some traditional Irish culture. Obviously we had a number of Guinesses on this holiday with the essence of live music and merry Irish folk proving that they really are a cheery bunch.

We had a relatively busy Saturday during the day, we had a well needed Starbucks and planned out what we were going to do each day whilst we were in Dublin. Because I was wearing my Tour De France Tour Makers raincoat, some elderley lady thought I was a tour guide for taking people around the city which we both thought was amusing.

We found a nice park with some murials and fountains, and had a wander around the city seeing St Patricks Cathedral, Dublin Castle and The Guiness Brewery tour. We got to try some baby guiness flavours and pulled our very own pints and then we had a pint at the top of the building with a 360 view of Dublin.

We found a bar relatively close to our hostel (just so we could dash back to get changed once we won and wanted to go out to celebrate) The only way we reciognised the bar was we bumped into a couple of guys who were dressed in what can only be described as condom morph suits. If only I had a picture of them. I genuinely don't think I've ever felt so relaxed and excited to be watching a football match in a bar than I did that night. The bar filled up way over it's capacity to the point there were people sitting on top of the snooker tables just to fit more people into the bar. But the place was filled with Liverpool fans all singing Allez Allez Allez. And obviously the inevitable happened, Liverpool won, everyone was going bananas and the whole bar was bouncing. Night out pending.....

I think this was quite possibly one of the greatest night outs of my life to date. Lotd of guiness was consumed, we made friends with some americans (Hunter and Meghan) who were some of the most lovely people you could meet. Sadly, they had to leave at 4am, wild that they stayed out all night even though their flights were early in the morningbut they were having their own little mini European tour.

Honestly, if you want to have a holiday filled with good music, extremely friendly people, and a quick city break, I can't reccommend Dublin enough!!!
