Day 1
It was an early start leaving Clare’s dorm in Montclaire at 3am to get to Newark airport to catch my 6:15am flight to Washington DC. I arrived at the departure lounge and made my way through the long and worrying security line. At first I was worried that I might genuinely miss my flight because they only had one line open but the lines started moving swiftly along when they opened up more sections to scan everyone’s carry on luggage.
I got onto the plane and the sun rise was beautiful. The flight itself
should have taken 1hr 33 minutes but it only took 55 so I was earlier into the capital than expected. I caught the silver line shuttle bus to Reeston metro stop and caught the silver line metro to metro central station which was only 6 minutes to my hostel for the night. I dropped my main bag and pillow off and stored them into a locker for the day before adventuring into the heart of Americas capital.
The first stop of the day was the White House to go and visit Trump a visit ( in a metaphorical sense) and to take a walk through some of the surrounding gardens.

I then walked to the Washington memorial monument however I couldn’t go and stand underneath it due to construction works being carried out so instead I made my way around it to head towards the lincoln memorial. The lake that lead to the memorial and the war memorial were beautiful and very picture worthy and worth the aching of legsas I approached the many steps. The view was just phenominal.

I saw the statue of George Washington and then made my way to the State de capitol
sleep before meeting a lad called Jordan who was from San Diego and we went out to an Ethiopian restaurant so we could both experience some Ethiopian cuisine for the first time.
Day 2

Holocaust Museum
Diving into the dark secrets behind one of the biggest events in the worlds history regarding World War II and learning exactly how the jews were treated behind young boys and girls stories during the transition into Nazi Germany.
Me and Jordan ended our time together
having food in a traditional Washington DC restaurant called Harry’s.
After the meal with my new Californian friend, I made my way to the Best Western hotel for an early night before the 10am flight to Boston.
